Custom OciChip™ Arrays

Individual array design and production for all prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms according to our proprietary and flexible developmental procedure is one of our strengths. All data gained is compatible with our catalog arrays. It is possible to use labelled cDNA on all our arrays in the same way and to switch back and forth between a custom and a catalog array if required.

Custom arrays can comprise an individual subset from a catalog array, e.g., defined with our Compact Gene Index. A smaller selection of genes allows comprehensive investigation of expression profiles of tissues under many different conditions, as the data is still manageable and the experiments are affordable.

Custom arrays can also be designed de novo from our customer’s sequencing data, either collected from public databases, provided by the customer, or established in our sequencing facility.

Advantages

For many focussed research projects there is a demand for custom arrays covering specific genes of interest. These genes often are a subset of rat, mouse, or human catalog Ocichip™. Many customers asked us for a search tool that allows to screen the list of sequences covered with these arrays by gene names or even key words like “apoptosis”. To meet this demand we developed a convenient web-based tool that also can be used to efficiently reduce the number of genes down to a few that you are really interested in.

There are several advantages for the customer:

  • It significantly reduces the amount of information
  • The smaller number of spots gives a lower price
  • Therefore the investigation of many different conditions is possible and becomes affordable
  • Due to the same chemistry all results are comparable, remaining cDNA probes already prepared can directly be used for further comparisons
  • It is possible to go back to the complete array with the same probe at any time, if promising

It is possible to search a given array for a particular accession number, a key word or Ocimum Biosolutions oligo number. The result of the search is a list of Ocimum Biosolutions oligos that match the key word in either of the gene descriptions. The search tool also allows one to look up possible cross hybridizations for highly related protein families. In this way subsets of oligos can be located and then ordered.
